A two year warranty? So what does that mean exactly? Well first I have to say that we have been selling FP Diesel products for years. In fact we have been selling Federal Mogul, (FP Diesel’s Parent Company) for over 20 years. The quality and workmanship of FP Diesel parts is second to none. In the many years we have been doing business with them the amount of warranty “claims” are under 1%. Now that is actual “claims” of a warranty… not actual warranties paid for.  We have found that it’s easy to blame the part as being defective, however 9 times out of 10 it is installation error. 

In this day and age with state-of-the-art machining, ISO standards and strict quality control management it is very rare that a part is defective straight from the supplier. This is not to say that it would never happen, or doesn’t happen. It is just very rare.

One thing to note, specifically on Detroit Diesel parts purchased specifically from the dealer is that they do carry a warranty. However if you read the fine print of the warranty you might see something like the following…

The WARRANTY PERIOD begins on the date the reliabilt
Part(s) is installed on a Detroit Diesel engine by an authorized DDC service outlet…

What does that mean to you? That means if you are the kind of person who knows how to do it yourself and something goes wrong, you are not covered under warranty unless you are an “authorized” or certified detroit diesel mechanic. With FP Diesel there is no need to be a certfied mechanic. You are covered with a 2 year unlimited mile warranty. No matter who you are.
